10 Fast Food Restaurants and 3 Diners
We all know America is known for their super-size fast food restaurants and diners.
Not going to lie, it was a goal for us to try as many different fast foods chains in America.
Disclaimer: We did eat other food and even had picnic once haha Just though this blog could be a bit of fun :)
We started to feel pretty shit towards the end of our two week road trip, but now we can say we tried ALOT of different Fast Food Restaurants!
Our favourite one was SONIC!
What an interesting experience! As the logo suggest this is a Drive-In. You park your car in the car booths and have the menu just out side the drivers window. Once you are ready to order there is a button you can press to talk to someone in store, then place your order and wait....
They don't just walk the food to your car, they SKATE out on rollerblades. I certainly was impressed. The food was delicious.
One thing that we both loved was a drink they did 'Grape Nerd Slushy" This was a slushy with the Nerd candy mixed through it.

#2 Taco Bell
Mexican food is something we both love. We are still trying to get to Mexico some day to try the real thing. But as fast food goes this was a great, cheap Mexican alternative.
They make this amazing "Chalupa" which is similar to your average taco, although the shell is swapped out with a thick, fried, tortilla shell. It's super tasty! Just your average Take-out restaurant.

#3 White Castle
Do not miss an opportunity to try these sliders! Their menu is super simple, but the sliders are
ahhh-mazing! When we were in Mammoth Lakes we had nothing prepared for dinner. So with a quick trip the supermarket we were surprised when we saw boxed, frozen White Castle sliders. I mean they were okay, but not as good as fresh ones from the restaurant. So make sure you go to the store. The buns are soft and buttery with a thin beef patty and cheese.

#4 Popeyes
Sure, this place is just another fast food chicken restaurant. Who doesn't love chicken (sorry vegans). We shared a box of their tenders and this chicken is so tasty and tender. If you like chicken this is the fast food restaurant you need to visit. They have lots of different chicken treats.

#5 Carl's Jr
Delicious? definitely. We do love a good burger and Carl's Jr didn't disappoint. There are plenty of options here, you can get beef, chicken, fish there is even a Vegan burger option. We both had the 'Guacamole Bacon Burger'. It was yummy.

#6 In-n- Out Burger
With 3 different beef burgers to chose from this is the simplest menu you can find in any Fast food restaurant. "Double-Double', 'Cheeseburger' and the 'Hamburger' are the burger options. They do sell fries also. Our experience wasn't very in-n-out, but we were there for the dinner rush. Was just a burger, but worth the wait.

#7 Johnny Rockets
We visited this Fast Food diner while we were at 'Knotts Berry Farm' (Fantastic theme park!) Serving size here are massive. We both got a burger and a side each with some table water - probably the healthiest part of the meal, oh and the lettuce on the burger haha. Amazing experience, staff were super lovely and food was great.

#8 Jack in the Box
THE-BEST-CURLY-FRIES-EVER! Please, do yourself a favour and make sure you get these with your combo. They are seasoned to perfection and make the perfect side to your burger. We loved it here.

#9 Panda Express
They have a verity of plate sizes they offer. You get to pick between 4 sides, we always got the Noodle Chow Mein - would recommend this 100%. Your plate size determines how many entrees you get to pick. Our top picks are Orange Chicken, Beijing Beef, Broccoli Beef and String Bean Chicken Breast.

#10 McDonalds
This is only #10 as we have a McDonalds here in Australia, but we do like to visit this fast food chain in as many countries as we can, to see how different cultures adjust the menus.
America did not disappoint, this was the first American take out we had tried. It was during the Breakfast hours and they had so many different items. Two that stood out to us would be the 'Biscuit' and 'McGriddle'. The Biscuit is similar to a scone as the 'bun' with the usual brekky treats as fillings. The McGriddle again has the same bacon, egg and/or sausage with the 'bun' as something similar to a sweet little pancake.
Food: 7/10 | Experience: 6/10
We did also try a few Diner chains:
Denny's, IHOP and The Cheesecake Factory. These three were all so amazing. Denny's giving you all the Diner classics, again large serving sizes. IHOP had amazing sweet and savoury pancakes! large servings, recommend sharing if you can, or hey, maybe just treat yourself to the whole lot :). The Cheesecake Factory, we all love the FREE entree bread they bring out before you order - especially thats brown bread! Most times we are so full after visiting here, but you cant leave without get a cheesecake from The Cheesecake Factory. So we would just have to get a slice or two as takeaway.
