Well here you are, wanting to know what we did in Amsterdam, Netherlands! This place is amazing, so many beautiful canals and buildings to admire. There can be quite a few things to do here in Amsterdam, you just need to dig a little deeper than the coffee shops.
So here is what we did in our 48 hour visit...
Day One.
Once we arrived at Centraal Station in Amsterdam, which was a 4 hour, 40 minute ride on the Eurostar bullet train from London. We had first dropping our bag off at the hotel and then decided to just go for a wonder around Amsterdam-Centrum, which refers to the neighbourhood close to Amsterdam Centraal Station.
While walking around we had found this place called 'Pancakes Amsterdam' Where we had eaten some crepes for lunch. They were Delish!
After lunch we had caught a ferry over to Amsterdam North, getting off at the ferry stop ‘Buiksloterweg’. From here it was a 2 minute walk to the A'DAM Lookout building. We had taken the exciting lift ride all the way to the top.
If you go the same time of year as we did (December) You will need warm clothes – it was freezing with the wind up there. But oh my, that 360 degree view was amazing. The cold didn’t stop me going on the Over the Edge swing with my Brother. A little scary but totally worth it.
Back in Amsterdam-Centrum we had just spend the afternoon exploring the city and enjoyed a nice meal, than headed back to the hotel for an early night prior to our big day two.

Day Two
After a well needed sleep we were now ready to start the day, Unfortunately this was the day Michael had caught a cold and was not feeling too good. But he was not going to bother him. We only had two things booked and that was a visit to the Anna Frank House, and freezing ourselves at the Amsterdam Ice Bar – Xtra Cold in the evening.
We aren’t really the museum type, but the 'Anna Frank House' is not something you definitely cant miss out on. Still one of the most fascinating places we have seem, and we cannot recommend this enough.
It does gets quite busy here, so make sure you have bought your tickets in advance. It will guarantee your spot and you wont miss out.

We had gone on a canal ride. We had got off the boat and went for a walk around Museumkwartier, This is where you would find the Riksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum, as well as a few other things to see.
We didn’t go into these museums, but we have heard they are quite interesting if this is what you're into.
Now it the evening of our last night, and we decided to freeze ourselves at Amsterdam Ice Bar. What an experience this was. If you find yourself in Amsterdam, this is a unique bar you must check out.

The ticket for this can be bought on their website. The ticket will included the time in the Ice bar with three complementary drinks. You can redeem two of these while inside the ice bar itself, and the other in a warmer climate in the front bar. Your choice was between either flavoured shots or beer – we had one of each.
Oh, I forgot to mention, the drinks were served in cups made from ice. So make sure you have gloves. If you do forget, they will supply you with an extra jacket and some gloves to borrow. No extra charge.
Thanks for reading about our 48 hours in Amsterdam. Hopefully this has helped you decide on a few things to do during your time there.
Safe Travels,
Mandy and Michael xo
